Lovely Things in London

On Friday I went to London with a friend to take photographs (it rained for most of the day), eat and shop. We popped into Tatty Devine, Covent Garden only to be confronted by these kitsch beauties (available in two sizes of brooch and a necklace). I love! And as you may already know I am quite partial to kitsch 70s siamese cats.

I also fell in love with this mini white Diana, complete with flash, in the Lomography shop in Soho. Too cute for words. So I will stop.

We visited the BP Portrait Award 2011 at the National Portrait Gallery. Venus as a boy by Wen Wu was hands down my favourite entry. This tiny photograph does not do the beautiful painting any justice. It is stunning and may have even inspired me to reconnect with my paint brushes. Watch this space.

Sorry, just one more Tatty Devine beauty - the Bambi brooch - and no I am not on commission!
Looking forward to my next trip..

A Karen Carpenter Dress

Yesterday I went to The Ballroom, not to buy a 70's Karen Carpenter style dress, but to simply browse and possibly indulge in a vintage dressing up session. Remember Mr Ben? Anyway said dress fitted like a glove and was reduced to £9 from £40 so how could I possibly refuse? It would have been one of life's regrets if I hadn't, right?

Clearly it is not something I would wear while doing my weekly food shop, but I thought I may on occasion hang it from the picture rail in my bedroom and ponder over who wore it last. Unless someone would like to invite me to a 70s party?

Fox and the Hound

I saw this advert for Brooks cycle accessories in a magazine, I thought it was beautiful and wanted to share it with you. Right, back to the real world.

New Collection at Cath Kidson

I had the afternoon off for a spa session and some very much needed relaxation at The Randolph. On the way home I popped into Cath Kidston. Big mistake. Have a look at these beauties - I can't wait until payday!

The Selby

I love this recent house shoot by Todd Selby. Although it is rather more haphazard than I could live with (I fluff cushions and stuff) I did spot many items from my own home - vintage deer, Tretchikoff prints and plenty of Granny chic. I would love for my home to receive the Selby treatment, but I fear I am not cool or grunge enough to ever catch his eye.

The full shoot can be viewed here.

My Polyvore Addiction

This is not the first time I have blogged about my Polyvore addiction and I am sure it will not be the last. I have created 150 Polyvore sets to date - a Polyvore milestone perhaps?

Happy Birthday Mum!

Mum

I just called my Mum to wish her a happy birthday. She said she had spent her day at the fruit and vegetable shop in Tenbury Wells and a couple of charity shops - so there is life after 60? She also said she had received 32 birthday cards and loads of gifts, which blows my birthday card personal best right out of the water.

Anyway, I hope you are having a wonderful day Mum, here is a photograph I took in Bogor Regis during my birthday weekend last month. Not a Butlins camper in sight.

(Oh and the photograph of my Mum was taken on her wedding day.)

As promised here are some more photographs from Vintage 2011. Looking through these snaps I am rather shocked at how restrained I was, I guess the sheer volume of stuff was a little too much for even the most experienced of vintage shoppers!

I am already counting down the days, and savings the pennies, for Vintage 2012. Bring it on Wayne Hemingway! Oh and while we are on the subject of the lovely Wayne, I was thrilled to spot him in the background of one of my photographs. I guess that makes me vintage royalty?
