A May Break in Devon & Cornwall

Boat

I have been back just over a week and it hardly feels like I went away. Why does life do that? I am already missing the beautiful beaches of Devon and the picturesque fishing villages of Cornwall. I must admit I was a little temped by the quaint bungalows set in the hills overlooking the south coast of Devon. Maybe, just maybe.

Anyway, I have uploaded all my holiday snaps to Flickr and they can be viewed here.

Plymouth's Vintage Treasures

Vintage

Plymouth does pretty well when it comes to vintage, apart from the hundreds of charity shops, there are some lovely and unusual antique shops.

Our first stop was an amazing clothing and accessories shop called Vintage & Retro located in the Pannier Market. It sells everything from shoes and sunglasses, to jewellery boxes and prom dresses, and all at a fraction of the price one would pay in London. I tried on a number of oh so lovely things and could not resist buying a 1950's peach net skirt. My Mum bought a large piece of 1960's pink and orange psychedelic silk.

After lunch we drifted down to The Barbican where we found a number of antique shops selling anything from vintage Star Wars, Star Trek and Doctor Who characters to the most exquisite vintage jewellery I have ever seen. I tried to take a few photographs but the lighting was poor so I am unable to show you more. You will just have to peek through the door and imagine.

Antiques

Here are the things that came back to Oxford with me.

A vintage Wade poodle from Something Different, The Barican, Plymouth (a gift from my Mum).

Floral

A vintage bush and mirror set from a charity shop in Kingsbridge, Devon.

Chickens

I took these photographs at Bovisand near the apartment where we were staying - Mum and I were followed by some rather curious chickens!

I have just returned home from a fabulous week in Devon and Cornwall with my parents. I feel so behind with your blogs and Flickr streams, but I hope to put my feet up with a cuppa over the weekend and catch up.

Have a lovely weekend!

No Friday Photographer

Right, here's the deal, blogger has been 'experiencing difficulties' all day and when it finally 'fixed itself' I found the Friday Photographer post I started to draft last night had been deleted. Grrrrrr! So, I have thrown my toys out of the pram and I am off out to eat, drink and see LA's finest Warpaint in concert at the O2, Oxford, with Sophie, Clare and Sophie's friend Helen. I hope you all have a great night, I know we will!

Afternoon Tea in Thame

Sunday

On Sunday I went for a wonderful afternoon tea at Cuddle My Soul in Thame, Oxfordshire. It was a real indulgence of miniature filled bread rolls, scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, lemon drizzle cake, chocolate cupcakes and Earl Grey tea. What more could a girl ask for?

Saturday Ramblings

Once again I am completely bowled over by a fashion advertising campaign. These images are from the Pull & Bear spring / summer 2011 collection.

Friday Photographer ~ Charlyn W

The Suburbs

Some photographers just have it and Charlyn is one of them. What she does with film leaves me speechless; the light, the composition, the colour..

My Juvenile

Worried Shoes

Anyway, meet Fig Newton, probably the coolest cat to be uploaded to Flickr. She exudes personality, in fact a cat this cool surely requires her own blog?
