Crochet Queen

My friend Sara visited on Sunday. Sara is the crochet queen and had very kindly offered to give me a lesson when she was next in town. I had purchased a crochet needle and some wool, and a friend had even given me a crochet book for Christmas. I tried crochet lessons on You Tube to no avail, so it was fantastic to sit in my garden, on a lovely sunny afternoon, and chat.. and crochet.. and chat.

Crochet

Here is my first attempt, not quite a Granny blanket, but it's a start.

This is the blanket Sara is currently working on. The colours she has chosen sit beautifully together. Details of Sara's knitting and crochet classes in London can be found here.

Charity Swap

I had been deliberating for weeks about taking some of my 1960's glass to a charity shop. In Oxford we have a fantastic 'Help the Aged' shop which specializes in antiques, retro and vintage. Many of my deer were found there.

Anyway I did it, and it felt great, and on the way out of the shop I noticed this little girl.. She will now remind me of the glass I gave to charity.

Great Mail

It has been a 'great mail' week. My Bambi embroidered hoop arrived on Wednesday, and my crochet blanket arrived today, both items were custom requests. I am truly inspired by the talented ladies I have found on Etsy.

Lace Curtains

Most weekends we find ourselves drawn to the Cotswolds. For me there is a longing for the simple beauty, peace and tranquility that are found in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Today during a trip to Burford, followed by Bibury, I found myself yearning for a life in the country, living in a quaint stone cottage, with tiny windows and lace curtains. Bibury was once described by William Morris as 'the most beautiful village in the Cotswolds'. I think he may have been right.

Little Vintage Gems

A trip out for afternoon tea in Woodstock, followed by a visit to Yarnton for vegetable seeds, turned into the perfect antique day. I always seem to find the best things when I am not really looking for them.

Swan kitsch

We are hoping the weather improves tomorrow so we can make a start on our vegetable patch. In the mean time I will have to reorganise 'the deer cabinet' to accommodate my new Disney beauty. I will also try to remember to upload some current deer cabinet photographs for you - my friends are all amazed at how many I have now.
